Crete has everything for perfect honeymoon: fine weather, wonderful beaches, warm pure water, comfortable hotels, friendly people. We went to Pethymno. A wonderful city which is divided into two parts- the Old Town and the New Town. I admired the Old Town with its ancient buildings and narrow streets. We also saw the Venetian fortress, overlooking the sea. Our hotel Pearlbeach was comfortable, with all facilities. It is situated at the end of the beach promenade near local shops, cafes, taverns. I’d like to recommend you the Lemon Tree Garden Tavern with fantastic Cretan cuisine. We usually spent evenings in our hotel sitting in a lounge bar with a beautiful view of the sea and the sunset. Folklore evenings or dance evenings to a live music in the hotel were wonderful. Local people and the staff in the hotel were very friendly and welcoming. We got lots of deep impressions, positive emotions and unforgettable experience.

I’m sure that a honeymoon is the best reason to visit the island of Crete, but we decided to go there because we are in love with an antiquity. I and my sister visited Rethymno (the capital of Rethymno regional unit on the island of Crete) in October, 2011, despite the fact that all our acquaintances told about cold weather in this period of the year in Greece. Now I can say that the weather was nice, there was about 72 or 74 F° above zero. We stayed at the “Rethymno Bay Hotel” which is situated on the seashore and there are only 2 km from Rethymno’s city center. It was very comfortable for us because we wanted to see all places of interest in this city. There were two beds, a fridge, a TV-set and even a safe in our number! But unfortunately a conditioner was broken and nobody wanted to repair it.. Firstly we went to Fortezza, it is the Venetian fortress which was built in 1540. We found out a lot about history and customs of Greece in the Historical and Folklore museum of Rethymno. And of course we enjoyed the coolness near the Fountain Rimondi which is very beautiful and enormous. We made photos of lion’s heads from which water flows. We returned in our city but Rethymno stole our hearts… Undoubtedly we will visit Crete one more time and we wish you to do the same!
